Maker Mondays

Join us for Maker Mondays every Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maker Monday programming is included with museum admission and is intended to stimulate inquiring minds of all ages with hands-on STEM demonstrations and guided, engaging activities. 

February 5, 12, 26 – Maker Monday: Under Lock & Key – Securing Data & Communication Students will learn ways of securing (safeguarding) an invention. From patents to cybersecurity, as new communication technology evolves, so does the need for new and more powerful cybersecurity to protect communications. But how did they secure information thousands of years ago? With ciphers! Join us and make a Caesar Cypher (invented by Julius Caesar) to encrypt and decrypt secret messages with your friends.

February 19 – Presidents Day Maker Monday It’s Maker Monday with a presidential twist! While continuing to learn about patents and cybersecurity, students will learn which presidents held patents on inventions. Make a Caesar Cipher to encrypt and decrypt all your secret messages!

March 4, 11, 18, 25 - Maker Monday: Escape from Measurement Island - Only one person has ever escaped Measurement Island. Can you? Follow the clues, plot your course on the map, and do a little measuring along the way. Are you up for the challenge?
