“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens at the Rocket Center IMAX® theater

Released
12/13/2017

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens Thursday, Dec. 14, at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s Spacedome IMAX® Theater, one of only eight places in the world where you can see it in 70mm film format. Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character and experience this all-new epic adventure in a full-dome IMAX®.

A Star Wars opening night at the Rocket Center is more than just a movie opening – it’s an event. STEAM Works will be on hand with a demonstration on how to build your own light saber, and Green Pea Press will be printing two special Star Wars-themed shirts. Members of the Alabama Garrison of the 501st Legion Star Wars costuming group will also be out in force both opening night and throughout opening weekend.

“The Last Jedi” is the final appearance by Carrie Fisher, who portrays Gen. Leia Organa, and it is one of the last movies to be filmed in 70mm IMAX® format. The Rocket Center will soon convert its IMAX theater into a digital planetarium, so this is the last chance to see a full-length IMAX film in the SpaceDOME theater.
