Students from 24 states, 13 countries attend Space Camp for the blind

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Students from 24 states and 13 countries are attending SCIVIS – Space Camp for Interested Visually Impaired Students – this week. Now in its 28th year, the program annually brings students from around the world to experience Space Camp and Aviation Challenge with the help of Braille, magnifying glasses and large-print materials.

This year’s 174 students are participating in all aspects of Space Camp, Space Camp Robotics and Aviation Challenge, including SCUBA in the Underwater Astronaut Trainer, missions and high-ropes activities at Area 51. The program concludes with a graduation ceremony Thursday, at 8 p.m.

International students this year are from Canada, Australia, Belgium, Belize, Costa Rica, Haiti, Greece, India, Ireland, Israel, Romania, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.
