HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s annual Rocket City Summer Fest event takes place Thursday, July 12, through Saturday, July 15, with three days of Space Camp celebrations and a concert in view of the Saturn V moon rocket. Summer Fest includes several media opportunities:
Thursday, July 12
4:30 to 7:30 p.m. – The Rocket Center’s weekly Biergarten takes place, with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Space Camp Alumni Advancement Board’s effort to raise money for Space Camp scholarships.
5:30 p.m. – Several members of the Space Camp Hall of Fame will hold a Pass the Torch panel discussion about their careers and how Space Camp influenced them.
Friday, July 13
6 p.m. – Space Camp Hall of Fame dinner and ceremony begins with a cocktail hour and silent auction.
7 p.m. The Space Camp Hall of Fame dinner and ceremony begins with the induction of the 2018 Hall of Fame Class: Dr. Sarah Noble, Program Scientist in the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters; Dr. Tara Ruttley, Associate Program Scientist for the International Space Station; Ms. Tara Sweeney, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Servamer Corp., an advanced technology test and evaluation company; and Dr. Erika Wagner, Business Development Manager for Blue Origin aerospace company.
Robert Lightfoot, former NASA Acting Administrator and President of LSINC, is the keynote speaker. A table is available at the dinner for media wishing to cover the event.
Saturday, July 14
7 p.m. – The Rocket City Summer Fest Concert featuring Party of the Year, an all-hits party band from the producers of The Black Jacket Symphony, takes place outside the Davidson Center for Space Exploration.
Tickets for the weekend activities are available at www.rocketcenter.com. Proceeds from to support the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Education Foundation’s Space Camp scholarship fund.
