The U.S. Space & Rocket Center will host a launch party in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration for Blue Origin’s first crewed flight of its New Shepard rocket, Tuesday, July 20. Doors open at 7:30 a.m., and the launch is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. The event will end no later than 9:30.
Among the crew is Space Camp Hall of Fame member Wally Funk, who will be the oldest person to reach the Karman line of space. Her crewmate Oliver Daemen will be the youngest to reach space. Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos will also be aboard for this historic flight.
In addition to watching the launch on the giant digital wall of the Davidson Center, visitors can enjoy space-themed activities prior to launch along with some blue-themed breakfast items.
Admission is free for members and $5 for the general public. Admission is for the event and does not include access to the museum after the launch party.
The Rocket Center will also be celebrating Blue Origin’s Club for the Future’s generous recent donation. Space Camp was one of 19 STEM-education programs to receive a $1 million grant from the $28 million Blue Origin raised by auctioning a seat on Tuesday’s flight.
